I am hoping to get my boy back tomorrow. Since he had yet another asthma episode Evan has been on the steroid Prednisolone since Saturday, and tonight he had his last dose. Thank the Lord! He has been full of more energy (which is pretty amusing at times)! Here is a video of him letting loose! I guess I should mention that he pretty much refuses to wear clothes these days while in the house, hence the underwear dancing.
He has also been very moody and grumpy (which is not so fun for all of us), and sleepless. I went in last night to check on him at 11:30 p.m. and he was laying there wide awake. "Hi Mommy", "What are you doing in my room, Mommy", he asked. So we read a couple of books to go with the pile of 15 library books next to his bed that he had already gone through. Earlier that night I stood by his door listening to him read his books. It's pretty amazing how he can come up with stories based on each picture without having read these books over and over (since they were recently checked out from the library).
Just as I was thinking I need to call Evan's Pulmonologist for an appointment I received a reminder in the mail. Our follow up appointment in next Wednesday. I am nervous because the last time we were there (2 months ago), the Dr. said that if Evan has any more upper airway asthma incidences while on his maintenance inhaler that we need to seriously consider having him scoped to make sure there is nothing physiologically wrong with his airway. The other concern was that since he was intubated at birth, and then a second time at 7-8 days of age, there may be a problem with the tissue in his upper airway?? This is a road I was hoping to avoid. They would need to put him completely under. That freaks me out. We had that done when he was about 19 months old for a CT scan because they were concerned about his large head...yah hello all those brains. I told the Dr.'s but who am I? Not a fun experience, and even worse because he will remember it this time. Pray for us!!! It is not normal for a child to be on a maintenance inhaler (twice a day), and have these severe episodes.

We will continue to pray for Evan. He always comes through. I'm sure he will be fine this time also. He's such a survivor. No worries. Keep us posted. Love you guys.

So far we haven't had the real hyper-hyper side effect! I hope Evan's dr. appt went well.
