18 Months in Review

Oh sweet baby Calum, who is becoming more and more like a toddler each day. This month you have mastered so many things including perfecting your walking, climbing up and down hills, eating everything 100 percent on your own, and reaching up to the counter when you see something you want. I wasn't quite prepared for this, and had no idea that you could until a glass came crashing down from the counter breaking into a million pieces on the tile floor.

You enjoy brother's scooter almost as much as he does, especially because you don't have to do any of the work.

You are becoming quite the climber, and can even climb up the slide in our backyard.

Your smarts continue to amazes me. I always like to give you commands just to see if you understand me, and if you'll actually do what I ask. You surprise me often. Your job around here is to go get your diaper when asked, and then to throw it in the trash when we're finished (pee diaper only of course). We applaud you, and since you love the attention you do it pretty much every time we ask. You will even pick out your shoes and put them on when I ask you too. Impressive!!!

Your latest thing is that when you sit down to look at a book, eat a snack just given, or play with a toy you look at the nearest person (which is usually Mommy) and say "down" while patting the floor. Although it's not always convenient I try to stop whatever I am doing to show interest in whatever it is your doing.

You have a new obsession with water bottles, and you have to hold it on your own because you are Mr. Independent. You have pretty amazing control and can drink from it quite well. We are also working on drinking from a regular cup, and you are getting pretty good at it.

You have mastered the word "no" and "mine", and use these frequently and sometimes together. In fact I will have to say that is your first two word combination..Lovely!! The frequent use of these two words around here between you and your brother is a little well a lot out of control.

We took you to the beach/ocean for the first time where you could actually enjoy it..and you did. You had no problem digging, sitting, walking, and even being buried in it. You liked the water, but kept a cautious distance (which was fine by Mommy).

You have also mastered pulling this big wagon all by yourself, and are quite proud of your new skill.

All of a sudden you are terrified of the real vacuum. However, you are loving the new toy vacuum we have around here. Last week when you had a crazy reaction to Benadryl you pulled and pushed that vacuum in circles for about 20 plus laps around the kitchen/family room area. In circles..over and over with a mission, and a very serious get outta my way I have vacuuming to do face. I guess we won't be giving you any more Benadryl. Poor baby, you were a jittery mess.

You continue to feed yourself, and require zero assistance at mealtime. This makes Mommy super happy since I now actually have time to eat. Your appetite has not been so great lately, but I attribute that mostly to your mouthful of teeth. Seriously there is always a new one coming in. Daddy got a taste of that tonight when you bit him..Ouch! I am just glad it wasn't me.

I love you my sweet baby/toddler. Happy 1 1/2 years of life. Your smile, giggle, and happy nature fill my days with joy! I love you Mr. Mazoo!

He is not this old already! I love all the new things he is doing and I really enjoy watching him use all the words he is learning. He has lots of motivation around to keep up with the big kids!

What a great post - the pics & his accomplishments! I always seem to want the next step, but am slightly surprised & a little sad when it happens.
My girls also hate the real vacuum & LOVE the play one.
Happy 1 1/2 B- day. Blessings!
