Evan is finally wearing jammies again (sometimes). It has been a good year or more since he has worn pajamas. He is slowly coming out of his wearing only his underwear stage, and is keeping his clothes on more throughout the day.
We were at Costco last week and he wanted to pick out his own pajamas. I agreed but told them if we bought them , that would mean he would have to wear them. He picked out the rocket ship jammies, and loves them. He is back to wearing pajamas. The only problem is that he always wants to wear the rocket ones. Maybe if we go shopping for more, and I let him pick out more, he will continue the trend. Here he is showing off his new favorites:)..
Evan has always been my cozy boy. He loves his blankie, anything soft, and love to cozy up in bed. Lately he is loving to have all his blankets on his bed. All twelve million of them. He's also a big fan of what he calls his cozy shorts and cozy pants (a.k.a. sweats).
He has his favorite blankie he always sleeps with, but his favorite blanket that goes over him seems to change every 6 months or so.
His latest thing is that he has to make his bed with about 5 blankets underneath, all flattened just right, and with the airplane blanket on top. He seriously spends at least five minutes each night making sure it is all just right! Here is a pic of him with all his blankets. If you look at the lower right hand corner you will see the several layers of blankets underneath.
I love you my cozy boy!!
The funny thing is that thinking back when I was pregnant with Evan and his brothers, and at my baby shower you never saw sooo many blankets. Seriously, that was the gift that I received the most of. I kept each and every one of them, not to mention the beautiful quilts that were hand made by Grammie's Best friend Janice (the yellow one), and Great Grandma Mobley (the airplane one), both are currently on his bed!
Last week Mommy was the "special helper" at school, and I was so impressed. (I brought my camera but left the memory card in the computer..bummer!!!) You participated in Mommy's center first and then independently went on to your next center, sat down and ate your snack with your friends, and stood in front of the class for sharing time. What a big boy! I enjoyed spending the day with you at school, and watching you interact with your teachers and friends. You amazed me with how well you followed directions and paid attention! You are well liked by all your teachers and friends. Although you prefer to play with mostly one or two kids, you are kind to everyone.
You are starting to greet and say good bye to others on your own, and I hear you are a little jokester and dancer when Mommy's not there.
We brought in a tomato worm from our garden since it was letter "T" day to share with your friends. Everyone enjoyed getting an up close and personal look. However, when we got home Mommy left the jar (paper towel on top with a rubber band and some holes poked through so the slimy guy could breathe) in the truck. A couple of hours later we retrieved the jar without the worm. That's right...Big, fat, slimy, gross tomato worm is on the loose in the large Suburban. Where will be burrow himself??? Ewwwww!!!
We went to an awesome childrens concert last weekend at our church, and although you didn't get up and dance at the time, you sure do when we are at home playing our new Jana Alyra live in concert DVD. I love to watch your faith grow, try hard to answer all your questions (which are getting tough by the way), and most of all watch you praise and worship without any reservation. You are a beautiful little boy with an amazing spirit and love for God that is growing and maturing just as you are.
The other day I asked you;
Who loves you more than anyone in the whole wide world.
You replied "Jesus"
I hope you always remember that!
You love your Evan and Daddy time, especially if it involves helping him do something. Here you are with gloves on just like Daddy. The other day you told me that someday you will be a Daddy too. I thought that was so cute. You have a great role model for a Daddy!
Last weekend at an outdoor kids concert Calum enjoyed his first soda. He was so tired and cranky and this seemed to do the trick. We had a major melt down when I finally took it away. It was good while it lasted...
Calum is a talking maniac. There are so many words and short phrases he is starting to say that are so cute, and I never want to forget these moments. Some of my new favorites are:
"mon" with the hand motion-which means "come on" follow me...Sometimes he will grab a hand too.
"me me" is what he calls his blanket. That one took me awhile to figure out.
"faffle" for "waffle"
"nany" for "candy"
"si-so" for "cereal"
Tonight when he went to bed he looked up at me and said; "dada" and then sat up and put his hands out and said "air r oo" for "Where are you?".... All thoughts on his own..no prompting, no questions preceding the statement.
I so wish I could see the world through Evan (4 years old) and Calum's (18 months) eyes. Although my days are ususally hectic, incredibly busy, and tiring as can be, they are also so full of wonder, joy, and excitement because of you both. I want to soak up each moment, as I know you both are growing up so fast, and time is ticking away! There is nothing in this world I would rather be doing!

Wow, what a great review! So many cute things to comment on...love the pj's, blankets, words Calum is saying (I called my blanket me me too!). I could say a lot more, but I'll sum it up with, "I'm so glad we get to see you in ONE week!!!" Love, Brandi
First of all, are you sure that was Calum's first soda? You know how grandma Norma is! I'm sure he has had many with her..lol I know my kids got all the things I said no to when they were with her.
I love the homemade blankets also. We use gma Mobleys homemade blanket every single night. It is my favorite.
The boys are getting so big. You have been blessed with two wonderful boys...and wonderful sister-n-law...lol just playin.
Love you guys
Great post. I did not realize till now that you lost your identical twins. I am so sorry.
such a wonderful post friend.
love all the blankets!! and calum's words!! too cute :)
I agree - what a wonderful post. my girls are similar in the regards to jammies - why wear more than panties? lol
I remember asking my daughter the same, 'who loves you more than anyone in the world' question. expecting her to say Jesus & she said, Grammy! too much.
blessings,
So sweet! It is so neat that you are taking time to write all your memories down so your boys will one day be able to read them. They are growing up sooo fast!
Love,
Heather
What a great review of the things your boys are doing now. My heart always hurts a bit when I think about the loss of your boys to TTTS.
My 5yo doesn't wear jammies either. He just wears a tshirt and undies to bed. It's so cute so I'm alright with it.
I am impressed with Evan's new jammy routine! Those boys are growing up too fast.
you are busy girlie!!
Love the blankies!! My daughter is the same way - old ones, oldest ones, new ones, newest ones - pillows, stuffies, blankies!! can't see her at night amidst all the stuff!
That's so funny. My son is the same exact way. He just prefers to be in his underwear. Even now the it's a big cooler at night. Getting him in his jammies take some negotiating...
