21st Month In Review

My Sweet Calum,

You continue to amaze me with your smarts, your sweet demeanor, and your happiness. You are growing up way too quickly right before my eyes.

You have this thing about having two of everything, and now that you can say "two" you make it known to Mommy when you need one more cookie, candy, juice, goldfish..whatever it is for your other hand. You have two blue doggies that you sleep with, and that you make sure Mommy gives both of them to you when you get out of your crib. If I try to get you out and walk away without those doggies you always remind me, "GOGGIE"....."TWO"... you say. And this new two obsession is usually accompanied by you holding up one index finger on each hand just to be sure you get your point across. You always make Mommy smile!

This past month was filled with many firsts for you. Your first time on an airplane. We went to Canada to visit Grammie and Papa Tony, and to meet your new cousins Aiden and Anthony. You were as good of a traveler as a 21 month old boy can be. You were eager to walk "run" up and down the aisle on the airplane to get your wiggles out.

Your first time falling asleep somewhere other than your crib or car seat. You finally fell asleep the last two hours of our flight home. Daddy worked his magic by rocking you and singing to you as he walked up and down the aisle.

Your first time seeing the snow. You were a pretty serious guy in the cold weather.

Mommy and Calum in the snow!

Your first time being around babies. You and Evan were both thrilled, and loved meeting your cousins, especially since they came in two. You both were so gentle with them, and genuinely interested in them. You would say "Baby Cry" whenever they cried, and Evan wanted to hold them over and over...so sweet!!

Your first overnight trip to Grandma and Papa's. There were no tears, just a happy wave a kiss goodbye. You did great, but did start to ask for Mama the next day.

You continue to be absolutely crazy about "nanny"candy, and ask for it anytime you see the shape of a candy cane. We have candy cane lights outside which always reminds you of the real thing. Candy canes are for sure your favorite thing in life at the moment. Shortly after Mommy put them on the tree for the first time, you and brother were found under the tree in the corner eating candy cane after candy cane. Since we had company over it did take me awhile to find you, after you had each eaten about 2 of them.

This picture was taken the other night after you had eaten an entire candy cane. You enjoyed it, and Grandpa enjoyed all the sticky residue he is probably still finding around his house. Sorry Grandpa!

This year as we were all decorating the tree you were more interested in unpacking the bin full of ornaments, and playing with the beads. You sat in the bucket and played with beads for close to 30 minutes. You did participate in hanging an ornament or two, and have been really good about leaving the tree alone since we decorated.

You have this hilarious way that you tell Mommy when you are going somewhere. You hold up your index finger, look into my eyes, and tell me "back" meaning you will be right back. You usually do it when you are going to look for something or someone, or if you are putting something back where it belongs. It is the cutest thing ever.

You continue to love a simple game of peek a boo while opening and closing any door, curtain, and you have now discovered the closet doors. You like to get into the closet, and open it to someone on the other end surprising you with a silly face or voice. I love how excited this makes you, and the deep belly giggle it creates. Evan loves making you laugh, and the two of you often play this game together. There is nothing better than Mommy hearing her two boys belly laugh together.

You definitely notice any "Santa" in sight, and can recognize him anywhere. You didn't even cry when we put you on his lap. I think having big brother on his other knee set your mind at ease.

You are a sharing boy, and usually eager to give whatever you have (unless it's candy) to someone else. You are always concerned about Evan, and will give him what he asks for most of the time. You continue to adore your brother, and usually want to be near him.

You have been getting your eye teeth for the last three weeks, both at the same time. This has made you a little cranky, but from what I hear getting teeth is very unpleasant.
One of my favorite things you do is lay your head on my shoulder. You do this when your tired, when you first wake up, or sometimes when you just want to cuddle!! I love you my sweet guy.
