Last weekend we enjoyed our tradition of cutting down our own tree at a Christmas Tree farm only a few miles away. The boys loved running through the rows of trees, helping Daddy with the actual cutting of the tree, and eating Kettle Corn afterwards.
Here's Evan running through the trees looking for the best one.

Each year I will do my best to remember to photograph the boys hanging their first ornament of the year. Evan was really into decorating the tree this year, and was a big help. He totally gets it now, and is so excited about everything..the decorating, the lights, the Christmas music, Santa Claus, and most importantly the "true" meaning of Christmas.
Every year when we set put our nativity scene we read the story of Christmas. It is actually a book now, but as the boys get older I will read it from the Bible. The book I have now is very simple, and taken from the actual story. It is so exciting to see and hear Evan retell the story as he puts Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, and the wise men all in their places. He is asking lots of questions too, which I find so exciting. I love this time of year!

What great traditions you guys have for your boys. Great pictures too. Love the one of Calum by the little tree.
I will now call you "Ms. Tradition"...all in the very best way. I love the things you do with the boys.

Growing up in Northern California we always went to the Santa Cruz mountains to cut down our tree and then had Chili at the beach. I still remember it so fondly. I miss that about California. We can't find a decent place to cut a tree down here so finally we went fake (blasphemy).
I love reading about your family, fun stuff!
i think we might go get our tree this weekend! seeing your pictures is making me excited!
love your tree cutting tradition friend.
and the pic of the boys holding hands - priceless!
My favorite has to be the one of the 2 boys holding hands. That's so sweet! It looks like a great day! I love Christmas!
That looks fun!
You are so good about documenting your boys. I have fallen so far behind on my blog. Great work girlfriend! I miss you too. Hopefully we can catch up after the holidays.
