14th Month in Review

This my sweetie Calum has been a very busy month for you.

You learned how to walk independently, and you are getting quite good at it. The last few days you have begun to prefer walking over crawling, and you are one busy boy.

You have also begun to climb on top of things, keeping Mommy on her toes, and a little more anxious than I would like.

You got two molars this month, and had your first check up at the dentist. What?? We already have to start flossing. Crazy, right! I can't even get you to sit still long enough to cut your claws let alone floss your teeth. You have also learned to brush your teeth (try anyway), and you love it when I sing the "Brush Your Teeth" song by Raffi.

You have become attached to your blankie, and will point to it after you wake in the morning or after nap until I get it.

You are so expressive, and you have no problem letting us know exactly what you want and how you are feeling. You are signing many words, and saying about 15 words. This makes mommy very happy. You give us lots of "oo's" and "ah's" , and a few "wow's" to show your excitement!

Your favorite signs continue to be "please" and "cookie". And when you want something you will point to whatever you want and just say "peas" "peas" a million times in desperation until we give in.

Your hair is crazy, and it's time for a haircut but Mommy continues to be in denial that her baby is growing up. Daddy keeps joking that when I go away for my "girls weekend" he will have your shaggy locks cut off upon my return. I guess you DO need a haircut, but that would mean you are growing up and I'm not ready for that.

You are only taking one nap a day, and I am oh so lucky if I can squeeze maybe two hours out of you. You sleep great at night, your just not a big fan of naps.

Your favorite food continues to be a cookie of any kind. In between cookies (just kidding) you like just about any kind of fruit (especially blueberries), spaghetti with lots of sauce, and yogurt. You have also learned about dipping sauces from Evan, and are loving exploring all these new tastes. I can get you to eat just about anything if I serve it up with some kind of sauce.

Tonight you were so tired after I gave you your night time bottle that you fell asleep in my arms. I sat holding you and singing to you longer than usual trying to "soak up the moment" , realizing that my baby is embarking upon toddler hood. I'm not ready for this but time tells me I have no say in the matter.

You continue to bring me more joy than I ever could have imagined or expected. Your giggle, personality, and smile brighten each of my days. I am so thankful for you!

Calum and I have something in common. One of my favorite words is COOKIE too!! Only I can't sign it. :)

I LOVE LOVE the picture of him walking away. For some reason I love the backs of babies. It's my whole "walking behind them" thing, I guess.

Let me just second Cecily and then tell you that I LOVE "review" posts, and I can tell you from experience that you'll be so appreciative of this post in a year when each detail is a little less crisp!

He is like his cousin Jordan in the sauce arena... Jordan loves spaghetti and puts Ranch dressing on "everything" he eats. (No exageration there)... Calum is getting so big he'll probably be in college the next time I see him.

That was such a sweet little tribute, I wish he and Cy could play together. Maybe Calum could teach Cy how to talk?

PS, Cy has had 5 haircuts (no joke)...tee hee!

Crazy how fast time is going by....and I love that he is enjoying his dipping sauces. We'll have him eating David's/Rick's pizza with ranch in no time:)
