This week Evan started swim lessons (which have been interesting to say the least). Evan is not a big fan of getting his hair, face, or eyes wet. All that kicking and splashing of water is fine UNTIL it hits his face, making learning how to swim in a group of six children between the ages of 3-5 a little challenging. Since it's been so hot this week we are usually outside in the afternoon (after swim lessons and a nap..hopefully) playing in the blow up pool or the sprinklers.
This picture was taken yesterday when were outside running through the sprinklers with BF Casey and her trio. I was amazed that Evan was getting his face so wet purposefully (and not crying), and actually enjoying himself. I am seeing progress! I grew up swimming every day in the summer, and swam competitively, and have always loved the water. I want Evan to love swimming too, or at least know how for safety reasons!
So my conclusion is that the past four days of which I have been spending 30 minutes to get all our pool loot packed up (snacks, drinks, lunch, towels, change of clothes, swim toys), tack on another 20 minutes to get both kids sunscreened up and dressed, and then finally the 30 minute drive each morning (make it 45 with my necessary stop at Starbucks), may have all been worth it. It looks as though Evan may just get used to the water in his face, have fun in spite of it, and who knows maybe even go under the water. We do have one more week, so it's not out of the realm of possibilities. I am hopeful!
Did I mention that he SCREAMS every single time I wash his hair? Like I said ...
I am Hopeful!

My older kids both went through the screaming when I washed their hair phase too. It is pretty traumatic, after all!!
Love the picture. It totally captures the story you are telling. Perfect PSF!!
If I were you, I would re-sign into Mr. Linky on MCMB. All you need to do is put your name in the first box and then your blog url in the second one including the http:// part. Hit enter after that and you have officially linked!! Woo hoo!!!
Thanks for playing Jessica! It's great to have you part of our PSF game!
What a cute picture. Good luck with the swimming lessons. I loved running through the sprinklers when I was little.
I almost spit out my water when I read your line about swimming competitively....dude, Stonewood pool swim team in 6th grade doesn't count! HA-HA.
LOVE YOU:)
And Evan will get there. Just have him come over and take a bath with the girls. They'll have him dunked under the water in no time...did I tell you the girls try to dunk each other under now? Fun times!
That is progress! Is it evil if I can't stop laughing about Casey's comment?
You guys should come over during the week and we can go swimming. No blue hats though... remember? lol The kids have swim meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You can come watch them also if you want. Let me know.
He REALLY DOESN'T like water does he. Does he ever drink it?
