You are already seventeen months old, and I can't keep up with all the new things you are doing, and how much you are changing and developing each day. You continue to amaze me. Your happy go lucky personality and smile captures the heart of anyone who spends time with you.

This past week you have surprised us with all your new words. The other day while in the car Evan started a little game. He would say;
"Calum, Say Mama", then you would say it. It was so amazing and Evan was loving it too, so the game continued for a long time. During our car ride we had you attempting to say just about everything. Some of your latest words are tractor, otter pop (ah pah), up, down, help, apple, whale, bubbles, grandma (an attempt), and bowl (to tell mama that you want your snack in a bowl), and the list goes on. You say probably about 25-30 words. Since Mommy's other job is to help little ones learn to talk, this is especially exciting.
You still love, love, love to be outdoors ALL the time. And since you can reach and open mostly all the doors, I am always on watch. This week you have learned how to ride your push car. You are on your way to keeping up with brother.

You have learned (from Evan) how to drag the chair to where you want, climb on it, and get whatever it is that you can't reach. How resourceful you are at such a young age. How could I not let you eat a few tootsie rolls after all that hard work.

What could be better than tootsie rolls for breakfast???

You continue to go, go, go, and are down to one hour and a half nap a day (if I am lucky). The crazy part of this is that you don't often get crabby when your tired. You are the energizer bunny.
Otter pops, cupcakes, candy, ice cream... are all your favorites. You have Mommy's sweet tooth. I have a hard time getting you to eat your veggies, but we will persevere. I will keep putting them on your plate in high hopes that maybe you will change your mind.

You and Evan are becoming pals. You adore your big brother, and although it has taken him awhile Evan is interacting more with you, and loves to make you laugh. It makes Evan feel special, loved, and important that you look up to him. If Evan is sleeping (because he naps more than you do), you are constantly running to his room. You enjoy being with him.

Your newest thing you do is taking Mommy, Daddy, or anyone interested by the hand to lead them to where you want to go, to show them what is exciting to a 17 month old. Whether it's a ball discovered down a drain, a cookie in the pantry, or to take you outside.

You continue to be the messiest eater known to man. I usually end up taking you in the backyard after dinner for a hose down, or I take you straight to the bath tub after dinner. You are very independent, and do not want any help eating. You are getting quite good at using your fork and spoon. Very impressive!! We eat the super messy things outside.

What a great post! Calum has grown up so much in the short time I've 'known' him. I love the pictures and love to see him and Evan interacting.

I LOVE that he is a super messy eater. One of my fav pictures is that popsicle one of him a bit ago. They grow up too quickly, don't they?
